"Del Castillo are a high-energy Chicano band from Austin that sings in Spanish, combining old-school Gitano with flailing nuevo flamenco florishes and churning polyrhythmic percussion. Their secret weapons are brothers Rick and Mark Del Castillo, whose tumbling brilliance on nylon-string classical guitars features jaw-dropping dual leads. These eruptions of technique and taste conjure images of Eddie Van Halen fronting early Santana (with an assist from the Gipsy Kings)."

United States Art Authority Stage (9pm)
When the solo kicks, it's as if Keef steps out for a smoke and an unholy hybrid of Joe Walsh and Paul Gilbert picks, squawks, and shreds through the lead break ... no matter how technically dazzling [Josh Zee's] playing gets, it always has a refreshing sense of humor ... together [Josh & Teal] make this album a mother trucking blast"

East End Ink Stage (8pm)
"Very Good! Reminds me of old pre-Heartbreakers' stuff we used to play back in Florida."
-- Mike Campbell (long time Tom Petty guitarist)
United States Art Authority Stage (5pm)
"Hard-to-pigeonhole singer-songwriters are a dime a dozen in Austin, but Choffel, a big winner at the local music awards Wednesday, impressed me more than any I've heard here with a unique sound equal parts Beat poetry, smoky soul grooves and indie-pop eccentricity.
Think Feist meets Erykah Badu..."

"Hard-to-pigeonhole singer-songwriters are a dime ...
"
East End Ink Stage (6pm)
This a group of some of the best, most dedicated and experienced blues musicians in Austin and
features Mike Keller of the Fabulous Thunderbirds on guitar
East End Ink Stage (4pm)
Vitera blends American style rock with Latin grooves and instrumentation as a backdrop for pop rock lyrics in Spanish, English, and Spanglish. Influences include Whitesnake, Tesla, Allman Bros, Cabas, Juanes, and Rabanes. The band brings a kick-ass Texas edge to Rock Latino blending congas and horns with greasy slide guitar one minute and orchestral strings with rock violin the next. An extremely versatile vocalist, Haydn Vitera can growl out Chris Cornell style or be Luis Miguel smooth. He is a multi-talented instrumentalist as well who plays guitar, keys, and most notably the violin. His 6-string fretted Viper Violin sings out beautiful melodies and burns out blistering rock riffs that rival the meanest guitar.
United States Art Authority Stage (3pm)
It isn’t just hooks. guitars and drums. Austin and the Rainbirds have written and recorded ten honest intelligent songs dealing with matters of the heart and relationships won, lost….. or maybe still being sorted out. This isn’t “tears in my beer” country or whiny alt emo. Wrong Control is a mature determined disc from a talented singer/songwriter and you get the feeling that Austin is going to be just fine as he sorts it all out.
-No Depression
East End Ink Stage (2pm)
The four part harmonies of Stonehoney wowed the crowd this evening at Threadgill's. The band performed a great set of original material that showcased their individual skills and also proved that they are quite a force as new comers to the Austin scene. Their confident stage presence combined with their musical prowess will surely make them headliners in no time.
